About us
A software company working on family logistics
Lancre Labs is a software company based in Seattle, Washington. We build coordination tools for two groups of people who spend an enormous amount of effort keeping children's lives running, and who get very little software help doing it: separated parents, and the camps and after-school programs that look after kids during the gaps.
We are not building a social network or an attention business. We are trying to remove a specific, grinding category of work — the scheduling, the receipts, the "did anyone tell the other house about the dentist appointment" — from the lives of people who already have enough to carry.
What we're building
Two products, sharing one platform for identity, permissions, and record-keeping.
Evenstead
A shared workspace for coparents. Custody calendars both households can see, time-stamped messaging that keeps communication in one reviewable place, child-expense tracking with receipts, and a document store for the school forms and insurance cards that otherwise live in one parent's inbox. The design goal is to reduce the number of conversations two people have to have in order to raise a child across two homes.
Status: in active development. Not yet generally available.

An operations tool for summer camps and after-school programs. Attendance and check-in/check-out with authorized-pickup verification, daily activity scheduling, staff roles and permissions, and a parent communication channel that does not require directors to hand out their personal phone numbers. The design goal is that a program director can say where every child is, immediately, without a clipboard.
Status: in active development. Not yet generally available.

The child's interest sets the requirements
Every feature decision starts with the same question: does this make life steadier for the child at the centre of it? That rules out engagement mechanics, ad targeting, and anything that rewards conflict between adults. Software in this category gets used on people's worst days, and it should behave accordingly.
Records people can rely on
Custody schedules, expense splits, and pickup logs are not disposable app state — they are the record of who agreed to what, and when. We design them to be durable, reviewable, and available to the people they belong to.
Collect as little as possible
We ask for the minimum data a feature needs to work, retain it only as long as it is useful, and do not sell personal information. Products used by children and separated families attract exactly the wrong kind of data appetite, and the safest answer is usually not to hold the data at all.
Access control is not a premium feature
Role-based access and audit logging are part of the core design in both products rather than an upsell. An organisation responsible for children should be able to answer "who saw this, and who changed it" without buying a tier.
